Solo Shorts

Joe gets his just desserts in Caught on the Bounce (1952).
During his time under contract with Columbia Pictures, comic Joe Besser not only starred in three feature films but also appeared in 11 solo short subjects.

The first of these, Cuckoorancho (1938), is now considered a lost film. The remaining shorts were produced between 1949 and 1956, including titles such as Waiting in the Lurch (1949), Dizzy Yardbird (1950), Fraidy Cat (1951), Aim, Fire, Scoot (1952), Caught on the Bounce (1952), Spies and Guys (1953), The Fire Chaser (1954), G.I. Dood It (1955), Hook a Crook (1955), and Army Daze (1956).

In 2025, Tubi, the popular free ad-supported streaming service, honored Joe's legacy by adding nearly all of his classic Three Stooges shorts and, for the first time, his popular solo shorts before he was a Stooge. (except Cuckoorancho) to their extensive catalog.
